Qiu Jin

An engineering student explores the similarities between Vancouver and her hometown of Nanjing, China. Viewed through her video diary entries and physical wanderings around the city, she reflects on Canada’s deep and historic linkages with Asia while navigating Vancouver's social and cultural cityscape.

Arguments break out over the closure of a European textile factory and subsequent move to China, as three characters from different parts of the world try to reconcile the complex realities of products Made in China.



Factory Air

Filmed entirely in the People’s Republic of China, Factory Air explores disorientation and displacement in the migrant experience. With a nod to experimental filmmaker Chris Marker (Sans Soleil), Factory Air unravels the intercultural experience of travel in China through both a fictionalized and documentary narrative.
